First International Women’s Day

First International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 19, 1911. There was a dispute going on by International Ladies Garment Workers Union against long working hours in New York. During March 8, 1914 Women’s Day was celebrated in Germany and since the custom has continued. On this day, protesters wear purple ribbon on their wrist.
