Exam Pattern of UGC NET Exam Pattern in (Tier-I, II, III)

CBSE UGC NET Exam Pattern

Pattern of UGC NET Exam Paper 2017 is classified between following categories –

Scheme of Test:

UGC NET Exam consists of three rounds of objective type papers. Each paper has its different standard and difficulty level which increases from first to third round.

  1. Paper-I
  • In this round General Aptitude Test consists of– Reasoning Ability, Comprehension Reading, Mental Ability, and General Awareness etc.
  • There will be 60 questions each of two marks, out of which 50 questions would be required to answer.
  • In that case candidate attempts more than 50 questions then also first 50 questions will be considered.
  1. Paper-II

In this round 50 MCQ (Multiple choices with single correct answer) questions are compulsory of each two marks.

  1. Paper-III:

In the third round of UGC/ CBSE NET Exam, 75 objective type questions are compulsory from the subject selected by the candidate and each question will carry two marks.

  • Time Duration of Paper-I and Paper-II is same 75 minutes each and for Paper-III, it is 150 minutes.

UGC NET Exam Pattern

According to the new UGC NET exam Pattern few points are need to know to all the aspirants who are going to appear in exam.

  • Exam will be complete in the three phases.
  • There will be only objective type Question in all exam papers.
  • There is negative marking for each wrong answer.

First I 60 out of which 50 questions are to be attempted 50×2 = 100 1¼ Hours
First II 50 questions all of which are compulsory 50×2 = 100 1¼ Hours
Second III 75 questions all of which are compulsory 75×2 = 150 2½ Hours

Cut off Procedure for UGC NET Exam: 

Candidates have to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below-

  • General Category Candidates – 40 marks or 40% in Paper-I, 40 marks or 40% in Paper-II, 75 marks or 50% in Paper-III.
  • Reserved Category Candidates – 35 marks or 35% in Paper-I , 35 marks or 35% in Paper-II, 60 marks or 40% in Paper-III.
