IES ESE Negative Marking Scheme:

Candidate must know the following negative marking scheme:

  • If a candidate gives any wrong answer then 1/3 marks will be deducted from total marks.
  • Penalty will be imposed on the candidate who gives any extra answer for a particular question.
  • If answer will be left blanked then no extra marks will be deducted.

Personality Test/Interview:

Candidates who get shortlisted through both the stages of written test then will be called for Personality Test/ Interview. Final selection of the candidate is based on Personal Interview performance. Both the stages of recruitment are qualifying in nature. Personal Interview consists of total 200 marks.

IES Examination Instructions:

  • Language to attempt question paper is only English Language.
  • Candidate should write neat and clean as 5% marks will be deducted from total marks if handwriting is not clearly visible.
  • Candidate must answer in descriptive basis.
  • Objective Type papers can be evaluated but in case of Conventional Type papers then it will be done only for those who will obtain minimum qualifying marks in Objective types papers, as per stipulated by the Commission.

UPSC IES Exam Pattern:

  • UPSC IES ESE (Engineering Service Exam) consists of two sections that are Objective Type and Conventional Type. Both the sections are mandatory to qualify.
  • Multiple type questions is of 500 marks and Conventional type is of 600 marks.
  • For General Studies and Engineering Aptitude Paper duration of exam will be 2 hours and for rest 3 hours.
