NMMS Scholarship 2022 Eligibility Criteria

• Only Indian nationals are eligible for this Scholarship Scheme.
• The candidates who wish to apply for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship must be studying in Government/Local Body/Government-aided schools.
• The candidate must have passed the Class VII examination scoring at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).
• The student’s annual family income should not be more than Rs. 1.5 Lakh.
• Candidates enrolled in NVS, KVS, Sainik schools and private schools are not eligible for this MCM scholarship scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Continuation of Scholarship:

• Along with selection, the candidate must obtain a minimum of 55% marks (relaxable by 5% for reserved categories) in the class 8th examination to obtain a Scholarship in Class 9th.
• Students must pass Class 9 examinations to receive a scholarship in Class 10th.
• The candidate must obtain at least 60% marks in Class 10th (relaxable by 5% for reserved categories) to get a scholarship in Class 11th.

NMMS Scholarship 2022 Amount

• NMMS disburses a total of 100,000 scholarships each year at the rate of Rs.12,000 per annum, i.e. Rs.1,000 per month to the shortlisted candidates.
• The class 9 students will receive the scholarship amount in a single installment, i.e. Rs.12,000 per annum, for an academic year.
• The scholarship is renewed every year till the student completes Class 12th, provided the student gets a clear promotion to a higher class every year.
• The amount is directly transferred to the beneficiary’s account via Public Financial Management System (PFMS).

NMMS Scholarship 2022 – Selection Process

Selection of the students for the award of scholarships under the scheme will be done on the basis of their performance in an examination conducted by the State Governments. Candidate must have scored at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class VIII examination. There will be 5 % relaxation for SC/ST.

Qualified contenders in both tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in each and for the reserved category, this cut-off will be 32% marks will be selected for National Means Cum Merit Scholarship. Each State/UT conducts its own test for the selection of students for the award of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship but State Level Examination consists of the following two tests.

• Mental Ability Test (MAT)
• Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Mental Ability Test:

• No. & Nature of Questions: 90 multiple-choice questions
• Topics: testing verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures, etc.
• Duration of the Test: 90 minutes

Scholastic Aptitude Test:

• No. & Nature of Questions: 90 multiple-choice questions
• Topics: namely, science, social studies, and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII.
