The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a nationwide program in basic science sponsored by science and technology department, government of India. Conducting organization:

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna is conducting by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Only Indian citizens are eligible for the KVPY fellowships/scholarships. Students who wish to pursue their education in India in the following undergraduate courses in basic sciences subjects like B.Sc. /B.S. /B.Stat/B.Math. /Int. M.Sc. /M.S.  In following fields are eligible for the KVPY programme:

There is no pre arranged syllabus for aptitude tests. Candidates are tested as per the syllabus of the class X/XII/First year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S Math as applicable. The core purpose of the test is to check the understanding and logical capability of the applicant.

Electromagnetic Induction, Physical World and Measurement, Sources of Energy, Refraction, Applications in Daily Life, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Magnetic Effects of Current, Work, Energy and Power, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Reflection,  Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction & Alternating Current, Waves & Optics, Electricity & Magnetism, Electrostatics, Thermal Physics .

  • Chemistry:

KVPY Exam Pattern:

SR. No Subject name Part I (1 mark each) Part II (2 marks each)

Candidates can mark the answers in the given OMR sheet (answer paper).

Important Points:

  • There must be four choices of each question, and candidates need to opt one, the right one.
  • If you opt a wrong answer, then you will receive a negative marking.
  • Unanswered questions will not be evaluated and will not be penalized as a wrong answer.
  • In Part I every correct answer contains 1 mark and for each incorrect answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • In Part II, correct answer gives you the reward of 2 marks but 0.5 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

      KVPY stream has two sections containing four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Bio.
      Section A: answer 3 out of 4 subjects
      Section B: 2 out of the 4 subjects
