Karnataka PSC Syllabus of Superintendent Grade-I

UNIT-I

Concepts of Social Work, Social Work, Social Service, Social policy, social development, professional and voluntary social work, social concept and philosophy, Ethical responsibility in social work and sociology. Functions of Social change and Social Process and Meaning.

UNIT-II

Type of community, rural, urban and tribal, social and contextual understanding of practice. Skills in community organisation and practice, utilisation of resources within and outside the community, marginalised sections in urban, rural and tribal community and society.

B Important social problems — Unc 7 -floyment amongst women, illeteracy, poverty, children in conflict with law, crime amongst women and children, trafficking and corruption, Socio-economic empowerment of women, Women Studies, cybercrime, devadasi system, prevention of alcoholism and substance drug abuse.

UNIT III

Casework method: as a social work practice and overall purpose and objectives of working with induviduals, groups. Remedial, preventive, promotive, developmental and indegenious case work practice, Cultural and sensitivity in practice, specific techniques in social work practice. Concets of convergence, community development approach.

Group Work process, group formation, formulation of objectives and programme planning in implementation — group process communication in group work and measures of group effectiveness, rules of group working , personality development — stages of group development and community development approach.
