Part – I

UPSC CMS Paper 1 Syllabus

In paper 1, questions are coming from 3 subjects i.e. General Ability, General Medicine and Paediatrics. General Ability, General Medicine and Paediatrics consist of 30, 70 and 20 questions. Maximum marks of paper I is 250 marks.

UPSC CMS Paper 2 Syllabus

In paper 2, questions are coming from Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive Social and Communit Medicine subjects. Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Preventive Social and Communit Medicine consist of 40 questions each. Maximum marks of paper II is 250 marks.

Personality Test

Candidates who qualify in written exam will be called for Interview/Personality Test which is going to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Interview/Personality Test will be of 100 marks.

Marking Scheme:

Candidates appearing for the exam must know the fact that this exam follows negative marking scheme which is as follows:

  • For every wrong answer candidate have to bear penalty of One third (0.33) of the marks from total.
  • Same penalty will be applied to the candidate for giving more than one answer to particular question.
  • If space to give answers is left blank, then there will be no penalty for that question.

Information about CMS Exam:

Union Public Service Commission conducts Combined Medical Services Examination every year. A purpose to conduct this exam is to select brilliant candidates for filling up vacancies of Medical Officer. Through this exam, applicants are selected in Indian Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways and other departments of Indian Government.

Personality Test or Interview:

Contenders who successfully cleared Written Test (Paper 1& Paper 2) they will be eligible to attend the personality test/interview. The Personality Test consists of 100 marks. This test is taking with the intention to check or test the knowledge of candidate’s.

This Personality Test Tests the General Knowledge, academic study Ability of students, Critical Powers of Assimilation, Intellectual Curiosity, Balance of Judgment & Alertness of Mind, Integrity of Character, Social Cohesion Ability, Initiative and Capability for leadership etc of students who appear in it.
