Online AFCAT Application Form is invited for the courses commencing in July 2019 for IAF AFCAT 2 (2/2018) Notification of Commissioned Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches. Indian Citizens (Male and Women) can go for Registration from 16/06/2018 to 15/07/2018.

Required Age Criteria for AFCAT:

Flying Branch

  • Age of the contenders, going to submit AFCAT Application Form 2018 must be lies between 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jul 2019 i.e. born between 02 July 1995 to 01 July 1999 (both dates inclusive).
  • Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 July 1993 to 01 July 1999 (both dates inclusive).

Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches)

The age of the aspirants, applying for AFCAT Notification should be between 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2019 i.e. born between 02 July 1993 to 01 July 1999 (both dates inclusive)

Medical Standards for  filling up AFCAT Application form

  • Minimum Height – 162.5 cms
  • Leg Length – Minimum- 99 cms. Maximum- 120 cms
  • Thigh Length – Maximum- 64 cms
  • Sitting Height -Minimum- 81.5 cms. Maximum- 96 cms

  • 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia. ) Manifest Hypermetropia must not exceed +2.0D Sph, Myopia – Nil and Astigmatism +0.75 D Cyl (within +2.0 D – Max)
  • Near Vision N-5 each eye.
  • Color Vision CP-1(ML T).
  • LASIK Surgery for correction of vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of Short Service Commission (Flying Branch) If the following condition are fulfilled at the time of Air Force medical examination:-
  • LASIK Surgery should not have been carried out before the age of 20 years.


  • The duration of training will be 74 weeks for flying and technical branch and 52 weeks in case of Non-Tech branches. However, this period is subject to variations.
  • The training at AFA demands a very high level of physical fitness.
  • Outdoor activities are given equal importance as academics.
  • Failure to achieve the desired standards in outdoor training and academics will result in termination of your training.

AFCAT 2018 Physical Fitness Details:

Candidates, going to submit AFCAT Application Form will be required to participate in athletics, cross country and games, so you should keep yourself fit to undertake physical exercise like sit ups, push-ups, short and long distance running etc.

If you have any sportswear/ equipment like football boots, tennis racquet or golf sets, please bring them along with you. The minimum standards expected at AFA are given below:-

Selection Procedure for AFACT 2018:

Selection of the contenders, who are going to submit AFCAT Application Form will be based on following steps, so please have a glance:

Step1: AFCAT – Air Force Common Admission Test

For all entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT which is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force. Air Force Common Admission Test is scheduled to be conducted twice a year in February and August.

Step2: SSB (Services Selection Board) TESTING

Qualified contenders ion the examination have to download Call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, Mysore and Kancharapara. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer in the Indian Air Force.

Step 3: Conduct Of Medical Examinations

Recommended candidates by the Selection Board will go for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.

Step 4: Preparing All India Merit List

All India Merit List will be prepared on the basis of their performance in the written test and AFSB interview and medically fitness. Based on the vacancies available in various branches / sub branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments.

Pay Scale for AFCAT 2 Notification:

  • Selected contenders for IAF OFFERS will receive Pay on Commissioning (As per 7th CPC) of Rs. 56100 – 110700/- and MSP of Rs. 15500/-.
  • Flight Cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month during the period of training.


In addition to pay, allowances include Flying, Technical, Field Area, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Special Force, Siachen, Island Special Duty, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Area and Remote Locality Allowance.

Air Force Officers are entitled to furnished accommodation, comprehensive medical cover for self and dependents, Canteen, Officers’ Mess, loans at subsidised rates, LTC, etc. Leave (60 days annual and 20 days casual) subject to service exigencies.


Rs 75 Lakhs Insurance Cover (on contribution) is applicable to serving officers. Additional cover of Rs 10 Lakhs (on contribution) is applicable to Flying Branch Officers.
